ela 2017: Message from LATA Chairman

Dear Friends,

I’m sure many of you will have all seen the tragic and upsetting news about the terror attack in London over the weekend; the third terror attack in the UK in three months. Our sympathies and condolences are with all those and their families who have been affected and I’d like to thank our overseas members who have sent in their condolences and concerns via LATA and its UK members too.

Sadly, we now live in a world where terrorism is a reality and fear is used as a psychological weapon, but I am a firm believer that humanity will prevail and we must all stand together, defiant and united against terror!

I know many of you will be preparing to attend Experience Latin America next week. This morning, I would like to reassure you that it’s BUSINESS AS NORMAL in the UK, with people getting on with their daily routines and jobs. Experience Latin America (ela) is going ahead next week without a doubt, albeit you may experience a few more checks at UK airports and see a few more police than usual on the streets.

We all have a role to play in healing our world, and travel and tourism, like no other industry, has a way of breaking down walls, building cultural bridges of friendship, opening hearts and minds and broadening horizons.

I look forward to seeing many of you next week to do business and build lasting friendships. #vivalavida

Best regards

Byron Shirto

LATA Chairman
