Air Europa is Spain’s largest privately-owned airline, founded in 1986. The Latin America specialist celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2016 and has operated from Gatwick since 2009. UK travellers can fly from Gatwick to Madrid and onto Latin America and the Caribbean on its growing fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. In 2015, Air Europa announced the start of a $3.5 billion investment in new aircraft, with an order for a total of twenty-two 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners to be delivered over five years. The first 787-9 aircraft joined the fleet earlier this year, taking the Dreamliner total to 10, and a further five are set to be delivered by the end of 2019, with the order increased to achieve a total fleet size of twenty-seven by 2022.
