Quito Tourism Board is committed to developing and promoting the Metropolitan District of Quito, which has a total area of 4230 km2 (1633 square miles) sitting in the Andean foothills at an altitude between 500 (1640 feet) and 4800 MASL (15748 feet above the sea level) crossed by the equator line. Therefore, the mission of the Quito Tourism Board is to increase the economic and social benefits derived from tourism in alliance with the productive sectors, promoting the best practices of quality, sustainability, innovation, and creativity. To fulfill its mission, the Quito Tourism Board as a public company owned by the Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito with independent corporate status is managed by an executive board. It relies on revenue from user fees funded through taxation and self-management.
