After leaving university, Simon’s career in travel started working shore side for Townsend Thoresen in Portsmouth. His career progressed following a move into publishing in 1991 when he joined the weekly travel trade title, Travel Bulletin. Initially, he worked closely with travel clients across the industry, learning how each sector operated and how Travel Bulletin could help achieve their marketing aims. Attending many travel trade exhibitions and conferences around the world over the last 30 years, Simon understands how all parties have a role in the global travel industry.
As the Travel Bulletin brand and product portfolio has evolved with the introduction of 40 agent training events each year, Simon now moderates both Travel Bulletin’s ‘live’ networking events which operate nationwide and also all virtual training webinars. This frequent contact with Travel Bulletin’s agent readers and users has given him a solid understanding of their views, especially in relation to rebuilding consumer confidence following the global Covid pandemic.
Jo Shayler – Holidaysplease
Jo’s career in travel began in the 90s and she has been an independent travel expert with Holidaysplease since 2011. She has lived in Geneva, Durban, Stockholm and Milan and she speaks four languages.
She specialises in planning luxury beach escapes, honeymoons and weddings, food and wine trips, multi-centre itineraries and group holidays, but as her valued clients will testify, she can arrange anything, anywhere in the world.
In 2021, she was proud to receive the ultimate accolade as the UK & Ireland’s Top Travel Agent along with being voted the UK’s Top Home-Based Agent at the TTG Travel Industry Awards.
Ben is Head of Global Sales at Explore, the small group adventure specialist, where he is responsible for both business development and customer service.
Born and bred in Australia, Ben has over 15 years’ industry experience across global markets and inspires a ‘sales through service’ mantra amongst his team.
Emma has worked on the travel team at Mail Metro Media for over 10 years now and in travel media for 17 years.
Her previous roles include Sales Manager at TTG and TTGLuxury magazine and International Sales Manager at Luxury Travel Magazine and Conference & Incentive Travel Magazine.
Emma creates bespoke content solutions for global travel clients including tourism boards, airlines, hotel groups and OTAs and manages advertising and partnership activity across the entire portfolio. MMM’s partnerships are data driven using online behavior intelligence and consumer insight so clients can work with MMM with confidence and trust.
